The competition (Gateway Summer Shield) shall start on
the first Saturday of February each year.
The event shall be divided into
divisions depending on the number of nominations received.
The event shall be comprised of three
divisions viz: A, B and C.
Division A to be bowlers from Divisions
1 and 2 (pennant rating).
Division B to be bowlers from Divisions
3, 4 and 5 (pennant rating).
Division C to be bowlers from divisions
6, 7 and 8 (pennant rating).
A side shall consist of one team of
pairs, two teams of triples and one team of fours. (Total – 12

commenced and 60 ends have not been

Trial ends shall be allowed if desired.
(a) Players must be financial
male members of a Club affiliated with Gateway D.B.A.
(b) 2 games in
a Division will qualify the players for final play.
(c) Clubs with
2 sides in one Division will be treated as separate identities and
must not be interchanged.
(d) Any breach
of the rules may result in Club forfeiting all points for that day.
– Round play
Two match points for an overall win. One point for a draw. One point for a rink win.
If a tie exists at the end of any rink
play, ˝ a point will be allotted to each team. Score total equals 6 points.
Winners and runners-up of round play
will play off to determine the winner of each Division.
If a game cannot be played because of
inclement weather or other logical reason, three points will be allocated to

day, subject to alternative arrangements being made by the Clubs. (Condition 1)
Highest accumulated points plus highest
score will determine eligibility to play in final.
Finals scoring: 1 point for each rink win plus 2 points for the overall
winning score. In the event a tie exists (a
Total of rink points and overall score) then all teams in the side must
play an extra end/s until a result is achieved.
(a) All games to be played under the Laws of the Sport
of the Game (Crystal mark edition).
Pairs shall be 21 ends, 4 bowl. (Lead and Skip to play 2 bowls alternately)
(c) Triples shall be 26 ends, 2 bowl.
(d) Fours shall be 21 ends, 2 bowl.
(e) If a match is abandoned due to extreme weather
conditions (see B.Q. Extreme weather policy) the Clubs involved
score 3 points each. With reference to points for and against-60 ends
constitutes a match subject to alternative
arrangement being made by the Club affected.
(f) Finals to
be played at the Club which finishes first in each Division, subject to
condition of greens.
05. Nomination Fee:
The nomination fee shall be $120.00 per side. (Clubs
may nominate multiple sides if they wish).
Nominations close on 30th.
November each year. Nomination form to
include the name and
number of the Club contact person for this completion.
06. Green fees:
Green fees to be paid to the players home Club at
their usual Club rate, per team. Finals paid to host Club
At $12.00 per player. Width of rinks
(not less than 4.8 metres).
07. Attire: Club uniform
A shield will be provided for the winners of each
