Mens Pairs.

A. Grosert & J. Jays 19 (Lyndon) - defeated - J Nordlof & P Laycock 17 (Wynnum Manly Leagues).

It was so close a game, that it came down to the last two bowls on the last end, to determine the Champions

Champion of Champion Group Finals

Group Final Champion of Champion Pairs and Fours between GDBA and BNDBA were completed Sunday 28/8/11 at Gaythorne Bowls Club.

Singles
Unfortunately Greenslope's Tony Gillman lost to the BNDBA player, in his deferred match.

Pairs
Our Redlands team were unsuccessful against the BNDBA team from New Farm. The final score of 25 to 13 did not represent the effort put in by the Redlands Team and the quality of the bowls played by both teams.

Fours
Our Wynnum Manly Leagues team were successful against BNDBA's team from Kelvin Grove. The final score of 24 to 22 only gives a small indicator as to the depth of character and belief within the WML team in achieving that result. At 13 ends they were down 22 to 7. Over the next 7 ends they held Kelvin Grove scoreless to be 1 shot ahead coming into the final end. On the final end with each Skip left with one bowl, and Kelvin Grove potentially holding game, Wynnum Manly League's skip drew the absolute shot (a toucher) which the Kelvin Grove skip could not remove.

I have had the privilege of getting to the majority of District Championship rounds and finals, and have seen terrific games, but that one, as they say, "takes the cake".

Good luck to the WML Team when they contest the State C of C Finals at the end of October.

Champion of Champion Pairs

Winners ... Joe Mills (skip) & Don Fowler - Redlands

Runners Up ... Tom Mullins & Brendon Egan (skip) - Capalaba

The final score was 22 to 18 Redlands winning over Capalaba. The game went almost to the wire, as it was 17 all on 19th end, and then on end 20 Redlands got 5 shots whilst Capalaba could only recover 1 shot on last end. Good close game to watch.

This game went down to the last end. Noel Gilbert's team required three to win but only gained one.
